About Us

Design  Build LLC is unique as an architect led design and construction company.   Combining these skills and services is a great benefit to our clients and eliminates the cost of overlapping services. 

Founded in 1985, Design Build LLC provides services that are appropriate to our clients and their budget. 

A former union machinist and cabinetmaker,  Steve Brown, the firm's principal, is a registered architect who studied architecture at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Fine Arts and landscape architecture and Rutgers University's Cook College of Environmental Science, who still most enjoys hands on personal involvement in all projects. 

The firm's materials palette has expanded as the average size of our projects has grown, and we have added expertise in energy management, lighting, and smart systems controls.  While we started with pencil and inks and now we use CAD systems and BIM (Building Information Modeling), our creative goal is still the same: use the best skills and tools to fulfill and inform the design.

The firm is personal attention oriented. Principal level attention is given to every project.  Internet partnering with consultants located around the country has given increased abilities and range but our dedication to the careful craft of building and to personal attention remains the same.
