Vaulting to the Light
The client asked for a room which was purely a "sanctuary" as part of recovering from a dark year of battling with cancer. Pursuing this very pure description, we developed an artistic theme of a turning from the darkness, symbolized by the north wall (at right) that has only a small slit window viewing this symbolic past and a fountain trickling from its sill, symbolizing renewal. The ceiling arches with hope and light toward the south (left) side, opening to the promise of the garden and terrace with the fellowship of friends and family there.
